Canon 50/2 Collapsible

haha all this talk of 50mm's. I've never owned more than about half-dozen at a time, but i have had soooo many different 50mm lenses. I've recently had the Canon LTM 1.2 (x2), 1.8, and 1.4. I really want to try the Canon 2.2 and 2.8's, i bet they are tiny!

I counted Twenty-Four Nikkor 50mm F1.4 lenses alone, S-Mount, LTM, and F-Mount. I have a dozen 50mm F1.5 Zeiss Sonnars. Eight 50mm F2 Summicrons. At least thirty-five 50mm lenses in LTM.

I'm thinking it is time to let a few go... maybe a J-8.

Brian: If you find out that bokeh is so-so with such a lens, you have 24 lenses to sell! 😀:bang:

Has anyone used this lens? Any comments and comparisons?
Thanks,
Ari

I've tried all of the Canon LTM lenses so far. The 50mm f/2.0 is not too common as it was quickly superseded by the 50mm f/1.9. The images from this lens is typical for lenses during that time. Lower contrast, weaker around the edges. When stop down, it improves. However, that's also dependent on the quality of the optics of your particular copy. The coating on this lens is very easily damaged and hence very hard to restore to perfection. Comparatively, I find the 50mm f/1.8 to be far superior (in terms of images rendered and handling) in the somewhat similar category of f/1.8 to f/2.2.

Cheers,
