Canon 50mm f/1.2 with UV/IR filter?

Anyone using the Canon 50mm f/1.2 with a UV/IR filter? Does it touch the lens? If so, alternatives?

some touch the lens some don't. I've had good luck with B+W filters not being a problem.

I've got a Hoya UV filter on mine. Doesn't touch the lens.

Regular Hoya filters are fine, but thick. The Hoya Super Multi-Coated ones will not. I think the Hoya Pro 1 filters will also work, but not sure. I am thinking of using a 58mm step up ring and use 58mm filters to get around the whole touching issue.

Can I confirm that the filter is a UV/IR and not a regular UV one?

What is a "IR" filter? Infrared? I'm not familiar with such a beast.

I have the Canon 50mm f/1.2, and I use a Hoya UV filter on it (not sure what specific kind). The Hoya filters can be very thin, and I was concerned it was going to contact the lens. I tried it with a piece of lens tissue at first, which confirmed there was no contact.

I have an original Canon UV filter made for this lens. It's made not to touch the front element. But it doesn't have outside threads to fit a screw-in hood, so original Canon hood or one like it that fits on the outside of the barrel has to be used with it.

I am using a B&W UV/IR filter on my Canon 50mm 1.2 when using the lens on my M8 with no problems. Just make sure that you do not use the UV/IR filter on a lens when using your film cameras.
