I have a canon 50mm f1.2. There is an issue with the interior element fogging up. Its a pretty simple lense to pull apart and clean, but 18 months on, and its showing signs of fogging up again. Can anyone tell me the cause of the fogging, and suggest a way to prevent it returning.
Many thanks
Bill.

The cloudiness is caused by outgassing from whatever lubricants Canon used when they built the lens. There’s no way way of stopping the outgassing, short of a complete teardown and reassembling using a more modern grease. Thankfully, these lenses are easy to take apart so a DIY cleaning isn’t hard to do. I’ve gotten so good at cleaning my 50/1.2, I can take it apart, clean, and reassemble in about ten minutes.

I'm still taking a good 20mins...
Maybe i just need more practice working with this 'feature' of the lens!
