odd to some though it may seem 🙄 I have my eye on a Canon 7 as a "companion" for my Leica D-Lux 4... But as 35mm Canon lenses seem even scarcer than a 7, suppose I'ii have to find a Summaron (to stay within my budget.)
Two questions. 1: the Leica lens will attach to and work well with the 7, won't it ? And 2 : does the Canon 7 viewfinder eyepiece make using the camera difficult whilst wearng eye-glasses ?

I can see all of the framelines including the 35mm frames with my thick glasses.

The Canon 35mm lenses are more common than LTM Leica Summarons. The Canon 35/2.8, 35/1.8, and 35/2 are all typically less than the Summaron. The 35/2 is probably closest in forformance to my 35/2.8 Summaron.

I can't say enough how much I like the canon 7. I am so glad I didn't sell it. I am using it with 35/1.8, 35/2,50/1.2 and 50/1.5. I actually like the size, weight more than my leica M.

Expect to pay $225-275 for a thread mount 35mm F3.5 Summaron in good shape. This is a common lens (at least as common as any Canon 35mm lens), beautifully made, small and light, and a very good performer. A Summaron on a Canon 7 is a very effective combination for general work and I think you will be pleased.

Just to add: the 35/1.7 Ultron by Cosina Voigtlander is a bit bigger and heavier than the older lenses, which balances out well on the larger Canon 7 and Canon P bodies.
