Some Canon 7 cameras have "Bell & Howell" stamped on the top plate.

Is there any difference between those with and without the B&H markings?

Is there a resale price differential?

Is the a fit and finish difference?

Are they restricted to ranges of serial numbers or time of production?

Where ALL the 7 cameras intended for sale in the US marked B&H?

Thank you,

Thank you,

There is no difference between the cameras in terms of fit and finish that I am aware of. B&H had a marketing agreement with Canon, much as Honeywell had one with Pentax. That's why you see some old Pentax cameras labeled "Honeywell Pentax" instead of "Asahi Pentax."

However, the agreement ended and Canon began to set up their own distribution in the USA, and as such, there was a period of time when virtually identical cameras were available from both sources.

That's my understanding, anyway. I have an old Canon FX and FD, along with their B&H counterparts. Also, B&H did a few of the Canonet models. I think they make an interesting side-note for collectors, but there should be no difference in the cameras themselves. Collector interest may drive up prices (or not) beyond their value as a 'shooter'.

No difference, except the markings.

Is there a resale price differential?

Some collector's will pay a small premium for the B&H because of perceived
scarcity.

Is the a fit and finish difference?

No, same camera.

Are they restricted to ranges of serial numbers or time of production?

Not that I'm aware of, I think they just sent x quantity of cameras from stock to B&H at intervals to satisfy needs.

Where ALL the 7 cameras intended for sale in the US marked B&H?

Only during a period of ~10 years, 1963-74, I think, during a marketing agreement.
