Canon LTM Canon 85

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
This thread reminded me to use my Canon 85/1.5 again. I used it yesterday on an E-P2 M 4/3 camera with 10X focus aid and IS. I really like this lens for portraits. Old reviews claimed it to be an inferior lens, but I believe it to be a wonderful lens that is underrated and relatively rare or hard to find on the market. Newer cameras have focus-assist and IS, and such features make focusing this lens wide open much easier. I may have paid less than $500 for my lens many years ago.

A few from this lens. Love it. It's just a heavy beast. :)

Someone sent me a Canon 85/1.8 to try out.

If you use a digital camera, try to find a Canon FL 85mm F/1.8. It has the same optical formula as the rare LTM version. I paid next to nothing for it and love using it on the Sony A7 II. A hidden gem if you ask me.

I've had the 1.8, 1.5, and 1.9. I was young and stupid and sold the first two, and bought the third recently because it was so much cheaper. The one I want, a black aluminum 1.5, is the lens they never made. :-(

Really, they're all fine, but the 1.8 was my favorite, mainly because of the small size and reasonable weight. Any of them whomp a 90 Summicron of the same vintage.
