Canon LTM Canon 85mm 1.9

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I have the earlier chrome version of this lens, which is heavier than the black one that you have. Initial images from it looks promising. I use the 90mm frame line on the Bessa fairly well and enjoyed the extra speed this lens has over the Voigtlander 75mm Heliar, which I find to be more sharp and contrasty.

Cheers,

can the bessa focus those accuratly?

He has an R3A so yea he should be able to focus an 85/1.9 somewhat decently wide open, especially one that has been properly calibrated. The R2A (or even an R4A) would be a different story though (but both of those were designed for use with wider angle lens, or least the finder was designed for that).

He can just use the 90mm frameline on his R3A.

I'll be getting an 85/1.9 soon myself for my Canon P. So we'll see. (has a longer effective base length than all the Bessas except the T, last time I checked).

I can focus my 85/1.9 very well on the Canon P and the Bessa T [and the Leica M's]

I can focus my 85/1.9 very well on the Canon P and the Bessa T [and the Leica M's]

Canon P : Lifesize magnification, 41mm EBL
Bessa R3A : Lifesize magnification, 37mm EBL
Bessa T : 1.5x magnification, 53.7mm EBL
Leica M6 w/ .72 : 49.32mm EBL

The T by far would be the best Bessa to accurately focus a 85/1.9, the R3A has the highest EBL of all the Bessa Rs (The R2 and R I think are 25mm, and the R4 is closer to like 14mm, but those seem to be designed for wider lens). I would think that if the P could handle 50/1.4, 85/1.9 and a 135/3.5 at 41mm then the R3A should be able to at 37mm.

Anyways looking forward to your shots off the 85/1.9 as I am when I get mine.

Finally got round to processing the test shots:

I actually returned the lens and got the 75mm VC instead, for two reasons:
  1. I did not like the way you had to use two hands to change the aperture
  2. The framelines jumped whenever I took a shot
