Hi, I found a nice Canon A1 that works exceedingly well. I just have one question concerning the stop down metering:

I read the manual and I think I have to push in the stop down lever (after cocking the shutter and disengaging Auto-aperture on the lens). But then, shouldn't the lever be blocked by the small silver pin underneath? Proble is this pin does not pop out.....

Might be the same on AE-1, AT-1 AE-1 Program cameras I guess.

Does anyone have some information about this?

Thanks

Hi,

yes, the lever should be blocked by this pin, the AE-1 (and may be AT1) have a sligtly different lever, the one on the AE-1P and A1 folds when you push it, and putting it back to this initial shape unlocks it.

The pin might be stuck on your A1

Yes, I guess it's stuck. Tried to pry it gently out with a pointy knife but didn't work.

I'll try a drop of alcohol over night...... we'll see.

If anyone has another idea I'd be grateful
