Canon attempts to buy Sigma ..... who thankfully said no!

Not at all Lynn. A large part of Sigma's appeal for me is the limitations of the system and the challenges of working around it .... Canon would sterilize these qualities to make the cameras more main stream IMO.

Never been a Canon person at all ..... I can't think of one camera they have made that I like. 🙂

I think you'd have liked the original 5D. I bought one when the only alternative was the D200, which had banding problems early on. Changing to Canon's interface took some adjustment, but the IQ was worth it.

Actually that is one Canon I came close to buying when I read how many lenses could be adapted to it. And they are sooooo cheap! 🙂

Petapixel's headline: "Canon Tried to Buy Sigma and Was Rejected", however, they base this on Canon Rumors, which headline reads: "Canon Looking to Acquire Imaging Companies for Growth? (LINK) and they just gave it a CR2 rating. The headline by Petapixel is questionable...

Anyway, Canon made major improvements in photography. There are worse buyers for Sigma if it was for sale.

Would it be impertinent to remind the distinguished posters that it is the person behind the camera and not the camera that makes the shot. If you are noticing the technical aspects of the composition first then perhaps the shot itself is lacking interest.

It would be sad just by the fact that another choice in manufacturer is taken away. I just recently got a Sigma 28-300 super zoom, after putting it aside for a while, who uses a super zoom! I was surprised to say the least at the quality i got from that lens and before all of the purist go of, i know that primes are better in quality but much heavier to carry.
BTW the sigma was stuck on a canon eos1n.
