Canon EF lens not reading but works on sony with adapter

Anyone got any tips here just loaded batteries into my eos 5s and my very very battered ef 35-105 USM will not AF or give an aperture readout however when adapted to my sony works great - ive cleaned the contacts on both cameras and the lens but with no luck?

I leave for holiday tomorrow so any help would be great

If the lens works on another camera, it's likely the Canon EOS5 camera is damaged. Have you tried other lenses on the Canon?

Yeah, I have my 70-200 and ive tried it on my two eos 5s with no issues but the lens has the same problems on both - honestly the lens is knackered I would just like to see if im missing anything or if anyone has a fix
