Canon EOS Elan 30 V (Elan7 NE) Question

Yesterday I acquired a beautiful like new Canon EOS 30V with 430EX flash and BP-300 battery pack.
My question is: how to remove the cover of the battery compartment to install the battery pack?
I tried and googled it, but could not get it off.

I believe that it doesn't need removal and fits into a space inside the grip.

On my EOS 300 the camera's battery door slips cleverly into the battery grip (BP-200). Judging by a quick Google image search, it seems your BP-300 does the same.

I just grabbed mine, and it takes two CR123 batteries loaded under the somewhat flimsy cover, labelled 'Batt Open', loaded from the underside:

Slide the catch in the direction shown by my somewhat dubious red arrow in the attached lousy JPEG then insert the batteries according to the polarity shown in the battery compartment (positive towards the camera base-plate for the battery closest to your fingers on the hand-grip - nearest the dodgy red arrow in the photograph - negative towards the base-plate for the one away from that).

Actually, it's pretty easy to use, but somewhat odd until you get used to it. Just follow the manual to 'train' the system. I've done that, but found it impossible to use while also using other (no eye control) cameras - the two ways of working were too far apart for me. But if it were my only camera, well, maybe. Others (and you!) may be more flexible than I proved to be while chopping and changing. Mine has eye control firmly 'Off' these days, but I'm glad I used it just to see what it was like.
