can a focus screen from a canon f1n fit into an original canon f1 body?

Yes. Focusing screens between the original F-1, and the F-1n (small "n") are interchangeable. The screens for the F-1N (capitol "N") are different.

The "F-1n" was a moderately small revision to the original "F-1" and all accessories are interchangeable.
The "F-1N" is often referred to as the "New F-1" and it is a completely different camera that replaced the "F-1n". Most body-specific accessories are not interchangeable with the earlier F-1 and F-1n.

Get a New F1 body! They are great cameras, while the original F1 is better finished and smoother (especially the advance lever) the F1N is a much more capable camera.

I agree! (I'm selling mine in the classifieds...). I love the New F-1. I'm selling because I am too shaky to use a camera without IS lenses without a tripod after having a stroke.

I have one F1n and two F1N cameras. The F1n was used by me for very long exposures with the MLU used. Else, the F1N rules.

I also have both models. For me the F-1 is the best built japanese camera ever (although i haven't tried a Pentax LX) and has a film wind that is smooth as cream. On the other hand the "New F-1" is the best 35mm SLR i've used. It's like taking a Nikon F3 and, while keeping most of the good things, correcting all the things that are wrong with it (viefwinder display, strict need of batteries, shutter button 'feel' and film wind lever slackness).

So which two lenses are they?
If i had to strip down my FD gear to only two lenses, they would be the 55/1.2 and a 135/2.5.
You're into a spiral of Canon buying syndrome very soon... FD lenses are addictive.

For me, it'd be my two Thoriums, the FD 35/2.0 chrome-nose, and my FD 55/1.2 aspherical.

Well, functionally speaking, the original F-1 has it over the New F-1 in that the former works with no battery, whereas the latter is restricted to just a couple of shutter speeds with no battery.
