Canon G11 loses Super Fine compression ratio

I picked up some info from another forum and then checked in the User Manuals for the G10 and G11. It looks as if Canon has removed the Super Fine compression ratio for jpeg files. This would mean that the best quality jpeg available from the G11 is at a ratio of 5:1 compared to a ratio of 2.96:1 from the G10. This may be accounting for some of the results seen so far.

Does anyone have more info on this matter?

They removed it because it is no longer necessary with modern 10mp sensors. Things have moved forward.
