Canon IIB + Serenar 1.9

He states that he does not know about the shutter curtains, which can run $180 or so to replace. The lens is easily worth $100.

I would have bid what you did, and been happy with the final bid price. The lens might need a cleaning, but that is fairly easy to do. If the curtains are good, and the camera is working out of the box, you got a great deal. If not, you have a good lens and a collectible camera.

Thanks Brian!

It relieved me 🙂 I liked the deal I dont know, it is going to be my first RF other than Leica and I am excited. I hope it is in good condition but if not I will try to have it fixed and cleaned and add to my collection for photographing. I can use the lens on my M6 as I have the adaptor.

Do you maybe know trustable camera repair shop nearby me? Canada Toronto?

Cheers,

I've used Essex in New Jersey before, but do not know a shop in Canada.

Be ready for Pinhole leaks. I HAVE to learn to replace curtains. I have TWO very nice Canon bodies in need of them as well. Too many pinholes for shutter patching.

Congrats on an excellent buy! I think with a bit of tender loving care, the set will be shooting as fine as any other camera. I've seen the lens alone going for more than the set you paid.

Cheers,

Congrats on winning the camera and the price you paid reflects the financial climate now. Interesting it is one of the last IIB (#41002) I have on record that has the MIOJ mark and the lens is a T3 version with the small screw on the barrel relocated to the right side of the grove. Enjoy your win and you will appreciate the quality in what Canon was producing in post war cameras. The small 3-x magnification lever under the re-wind knob is what put Canon at that time on the map and made them so popular with the occupation forces in Japan and Korea. The single viewfinder is also a great advantage, as one does not have to switch between finders as found on Leica's and other Leica copy cameras. As I said, ENJOY Peter.

thanks guys! I am excited! I hope it is in good condition so I can enjoy it immediately. I knew it was special as it is MIOJ and has nice lens!

As Brian says, pinholes can be real issue for those cameras.

CanonRfinder, thanks for detail information. I didnt know those details!

I have used Mark Hama for my Canon P. He seems quite good, IMHO. Google his name to see his website. He lives in GA, I think. Just mail it off to him.
