I have had a nr. mint IIF for 30+ years but haven't used it in so long that I'm going to have to let it go...I pulled it out to 'test' it and noticed that on the long shutter settings (1 to 1/25 sec) I have to RELEASE the shutter button after actuating the shutter for the shutter to acutally operate...it stays open if I keep the button depressed....the speeds seem accurate, to my ear at least, but having to take my finger off the shutter button seems wierd....

At the higher settings, > 1/25 sec, the shutter button operates as one would expect, the shutter opening and closing with the button fully depressed...
I'm depressed to think it isn't working exactly as it should, but maybe it IS working as it should....

edit...FTR...I will post this bod for sale in the classifieds before ebay!

Thanks in advance for any comments....

So if you set the shutter to one second, hit the release button, the shutter won't release until you take your finger off the button?

Jim B.

Yup...the shutter opens and won't close at the set speed until I take my finger off the shutter button....so in fact the shutter must be open longer than the set speed even with my lightening fast shutter finger release 😀

the slow speed escapement at the base of the camera needs to be cleaned amongst other things.
it will be done during the CLA procedure.
