I have a Canon IIf and the verticle is a little bit off on distant shots. Will this alter the shot very much or should I have it fixed? I stopped unexpectly in my car and the camera hit hard on the console.

take the round ring off the front rf window and rotate the glass part, which is actually a prism till the vertical is spot on.

you may want to check the infinity on the rf too.

I received the camera from an Ebay auction and it was missing the ring. On this blog someone suggested the ring from a cheap Russian camera and the ring fit. In tightening the ring maybe I moved the glass part and didn't realize it? I guess I should try and moving the glass opposite than the way it's tight?

You need that chrome trim ring to hold the optics in tightly, so you will not experience this problem. The Chrome Trim Ring from a FED 2 will fit perfectly. I use one on my IIf.

The Vertical alignment will also effect the horizontal. Adjust the vertical first, then check the horizontal.
