I'd like to remove the flash rail on my canon IVSB2 because it ruins the ergonomics of the camera for me.

I noticed there are four screws on the outside. Is it as simple as removing those screws?

Do I have to patch up screw holes on the camera body after removing? This is assuming the screws extend into the camera body.

Thanks
Nathan

Just unscrew it and see. My guess is there will also be a loose wire or two to deal with since the rail is also an electrical connector. Be advised that these sorts of modifications will greatly diminish the resale value of the camera, particularly as this model is in the realm of a collectible now.

once you remove it, you may not like the results
it will also reduce the value of the camera when you sell it

better yet, why not buy a Canon L-1 ?
