Hey All, can anyone lend their experience with these Canon Barnacks or the IVSB2 in particular? I just picked up an IVSB2 and the main viewfinder is quite hazy and low contrast compared to the 1X magnification view which is incredibly sharp, bright, and clear. Is this common and something easily cleaned without needing to worry about knocking the rf out of alignment? Thank you for your expertise!

Ps. I'm very surprised how useful and less annoying the StOOPD hood is compared to the impressions I got from other images online.

The viewfinder magnification adjustment found on most bottom-loading Canon's is nothing more than a rotating cube. As you move the adjustment lever, the cube rotates exposing a different side of the cube, and magnification, to the viewfinder. I'm guessing that one of the surfaces of the cube is hazy or dirty. You'll need to take off the top plate to access the cube and clean You can do yourself, or send to a qualified repair tech.

The rotating prism surfaces of the classic Canon Tri-finder needs to be cleaned to give you a clear view on all positions...the 1x is clear because you are not looking thru the prism.
