OK , another L1 question: I've just finished testing my ancient Sunpak 433 with my P...it used to be a great little flash...I'd forgotten I had it, last used it a dozen years ago...the head's designed for bouncing...something like a faster Vivitar 283. The P seems to synch properly (I'll soon see film) but the L1 doesn't even pretend to synch properly with what either of its two flash settings. Just barely depress the button and I get a flash without shutter action. Is this normal for L1? Is it a flash bulb camera, no X synch?
Yes, I've been busy around photography. My exec recruiting business is always sluggish in June/July because my clients mostly go away on vacation..
Having discovered that I can focus sharply with rfdr, not adequately with SLR anymore, I'm excited again about photography...AND I just got asked to photograph the family of a man I'd approached on the street, making a casually posed portraitof him and his infant grandchild right there...I sent him some nice B&W inkjet prints on watercolor paper... he wants new images of his blushing bride and grandkids....the upcoming shoot(s) will be freebies because I don't feel professional and am only 80% sure of what I'm doing... but the particular guy is obviously somebody with worthwhile friends, as well as being a fine fellow...I'll meet people who like his portrait, they'll introduce me to others etc: "viral marketing." I intend to plant similar seeds repeatedly in the "right" places. I will start charging for B&W inkjet portraits, 35mm style, after I've done this for free for a half dozen more people. I expect to make a full second income this way, entirely on referral business. It may take six months.
Takes chutzpah to walk up to people and ask to make their portrait....but chutzpah's always been my thing.
