Thanks for the post -- it's piece of data and eye candy for Canon enthusiasts. I once had an english brocure with essentially the same or similar info and photos (as I recall).

A few random observations:

-- Seems odd that it includes the 100mm f/2 (introduced January 1959) but not the 50/1.4 (November 1957.)

-- The girl doesn't look very Japanese. Suppose they hired a foreign model to make the brochure more exotic?

-- Anyone know what the car is?

Nov. 1957 may be wrong for the 50/1.4. Dechert wrote it was introduced 1959 and the Canon VI was available with the 50/1.5 when released (June 1958).
For my feeling the quality of the 50/1.4 is a bit more understandable with a release date two years later.

Oh no, that girl is very painfully Japanese.

The car almost reminds me of the old Nissan Bluebirds, it isn't of course, but it does kind of resemble one.

The girl is japanese. The car looks like a Nissan Skyline. Both are trying to look American, and doing a pretty good job of it.

The column on lens focus ranges is also very "American" by being quoted in feet　(フィート） instead of metres 🙂
