Canon LTM 50mm 1.4 lens.

Have been using this lens for about a week now and find it easy to use but I have found that the infinity lock bothers me somewhat. Is there a purpose for this lock other than the obvious? Can it be disengaged and is that advisable? TIA for any input.

You can take it off by unscrewing the knob.

But I leave it on because it gives the lens additional stability.

If you do remove it, don't lose it - the resale price will be affected without it!

Earlier someone posted details of fitting a wee plastic shim/wedge underneath the lever, to keep it the open position.

I've just found myself leaving the lens focussed at about 10-15 feet. Quick to change closer or to infinity if needed.

I've also found that for LTM bodies, it's easier to remove the lens if it's locked at infinity. Dunno why. But it is.
