Took the little slider out for a spin today. The sky was just beautiful, with a front approaching to really fluff up the clouds, and a bit of dryness to clear the haze.
First thing I did was shoot a panorama of the hill I live on, with the new construction as a focal point. Forgot to set the ASA, so I was shooting 400 at 100. Yeah, that's going to look pretty. At least I caught it before running the complete roll through the camera.
Then I just took off, shooting scenes as they presented themselves. Wound up at the Heritage farm, with free range chickens running about, and the old log cabin still standing. More beautiful clouds, and views of the neighboring golf course. That's when I noticed it.
I had always wondered why the first time I tested the camera, some shots were tack sharp, and others were just okay. I chalked it up to the cold temps I was shooing in that day, as the batteries would get cold and also throw off the metering system. So I figured a good warm summer day would be best to give it another try. It has five distance icons in the viewfinder, and I saw that it was always going to the same icon, no matter what distance I was from the subject. Bummer.
So I decided to just write off the day, and get a banana split.
Oh, and when I got home, just to thumb it's nose at me, the little bugger wouldn't go into mid-roll rewind when I hit the button. Had to shoot off the rest of the roll before it would auto rewind.
I'm not even going to bother getting the film developed. Hope your Labor Day weekend is going better.
