Canon P - Different Variants?

Hi, I just bought a Canon P with a serial starting 70xxxxxx

And i noticed the ASA dial on the back is all silver, but when i look at other Canon p's they are black and colored blue and red, I was wondering If there were any other variations in the Canon P Rangefidners

Yes. There were 2 versions.

There was 3 different body shells used, but that is hard to spot by looking at the external view of the P. The later P also had the screw end visible in the centre of the cold shoe.

There are all sorts of variations of the P. Slightly different chrome finish, ASA dial differences, inner chassis differences, flash shoe differences, black trim differences, a special Canon 25th anniversary model was made for select Canon personnel, a Japanese military model, and a few experimental motor drive models that were never released to the public.
