Canon printer with Epson paper

I'm using a Canon PIXMA Pro9000 with various Epson papers, just to exhaust my old paper stock (I had an Epson 1280 before). B&W obviously doesn't matter so much. Color I find is a touch different, but acceptable.

It mostly depends on the color profile you select, and I usually use "Glossy Photo Paper" as a generic setting.

I have a very similar story. A friend sold me his Canon iPF5000 this week. He moved up a 24" Canon. I had some Epson paper left over from Epson 1280. Sound familiar? 🙂 My Epson paper was their Premium Photo Lustre, or something like that, and I got very acceptable results using the Photo Plus Semi-gloss setting. However, that paper is almost gone. Good riddance! My other leftover stock of paper is HP Lustre. I hope it works as well as the Epson.

Now for the GREAT news: Red River Paper Aurora Natural Matte paper works GREAT with the Red River profile. The best news? It's considerably less expensive than "name brand" paper AND they are located in Dallas. I will be ordering a roll of Aurora.

$400 to $500 is a lot of paper and ink but I blew a lot off ink and several roll’s of Ilford Gallerie Gold Fibre Silk before I gave in and bought the ColorMunki.
