Hi firstly the asa ring on my ql17 is very very stiff is there a way to free it up it does move but only with a lot of force.Secondly has anyone replaced the light seals in a 7, the door groove along the top is not a problem, its knowing what thickness of material to use down the door hinge side as it is flat and spread .The way i see it is if i use the wrong thickness the door wont close easily or it will leak light. I will be gratefull for any ideas/advice.Thanks

I had this happen with a Canonet Ql17 GIII. I used a LITTLE 99%Isopropyl alchohol dabbed on the ASA ring's slot. Then worked the ASA ring and swabbed off the dirt and grime that was gunking it up. This is NOT ALWAYS the culprit, use a LITTLE alchohol, and it's worthwhile trying before taking the front lens apart.

Thanks i will try that, i have also sent a pm to Jon re thickness of seal i already have one of his kits so i hope he can advise me on the correct thickness.
