Ruben, you make a fair point.

I think all of the fixed lens rangefinders of that era - the Himatics, the Canons, Yashicas, the Olys - performance-wise, were in the same range. All very good. They were mostly distinguished by features: "f1.4 lens", "QL loading", "aperture priority", "spot metering mode".

Part of the genre was rangefinder focus + very good glass... A good thing, happy they exist, favorite cams to shoot... If I had a Konica Auto S2 I would likel be boasting about that one, same for the Canon (neither of which I own...)

An addendum actually. Somewhere on the site I read that 1.4 zinc air batteries work and the do. However, I learned from a friend of mine that if a person wants them to last any time at all he should drill a V-E-R-Y small hole in the plastic battery cover. Key word being AIR. If you'll notice the packaging that holds the batteries has an air hole. I did this to one of mine and it works. Batteries lasted a long time.
Just a second hand suggestion.

If both cameras were in their original cases I'll probably pick the Yashica before the Canon falls to pieces. I'm sure in their hey day you couldn't tell the difference but honestly, how cheap do you need to be to package your camera in a card board never-ready case?

I only shot a few rolls with the CC in bright light outdoors and got annoyed with the low shutter speed causing the "over" light to go on w/ 400 speed film. (Should just rate it at 200 or ignore it... what's a stop or two on print film? Or, of course, a Y2 or ND filter which I have for this camera's common 52mm threads...) However, I recently took a look at those prints (XP2Super) and - yeah, they were fairy excellent. That said, as I said a few times, I prefer the Konica Auto S3, that said, I shot the CC this weekend at the Franklin Institute in Philly. Tri-x in rodinal, 1:50 - the negs look verrry nice. Haven't printed them yet, though. Great street shooter/walking around camera. Best bargain by far for a fast 35/sub f2 lens.

There's a CC on eBay RIGHT NOW. Catch it if you can. They're hard to come by.
