Folks,
Just picked one up. The battery test light lights up fine. When I push on the shutter I don't see movement from the meter in the right side of the viewfinder screen .. should I?

Thanks,
Ken

No. It is telling you what the "A" setting is using for an aperture. In manual it is a guide for you to set the aperture.

OOPS. Does it ever move? Or is it stuck at the top?

I see no movement. I downloaded the manual and it says .. In manual exposure control, the position of the exposure indicator is in the upper red mark. Don't see movement there .. am I supposed to see a black line?

thanks,
Ken

Ah .. am I just thinking in reverse?

Is the only way that the meter will give you feedback is if you use it in what they currently call TV mode in current Canon lingo?

The meter only works in auto mode. The lens is set on "A" and it should tell you what the aperture it is using. By changing speeds it will vary the aperture. If you see no movement in auto mode, the meter could be stuck or corroded.

Thanks I get it now. I guess for the original market of the camera "TV" mode would be the best way to be sure a user got the shot.

Thanks again,
Ken
