I have a clean Canon RF 50mm/2.8 lens for sale. It is an under-rated lens due to its speed, but we all know how popular such lenses can be, like the Elmar. The lens comes with both covers. If intersted, please send me a pm or email. Asking price is $175 plus shipping. KevinCamera asks for $225.

raid,
do you have some photos taken by this lens?
i have heard mixed reviews about it and would love to see something taken ith it.

Joe,
Iwouldn't know where to start looking, but I took photos with it a few days ago. I will finish the roll and email you a link.

No problem. If there are problems, then I want to know. I usually use the 50/1.8 or 50/1.2 but this lens should be good too.

This is indeed a sort of unknown lens. Much has been written of the 1.2, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.8 versions. Even the coll. 1.9 has more literature than this one.

If one thinks, nobody doubts the Elmar 50/2.8 is a great lens, maybe we're facing another forgotten gem here.

No rigorous Test

Hello:

I've no rigorous test comparison but in my hands the Canon f2.8 appears to out perform my f3.5 Elmar by a considerable margin. A fake russian f3.5 Elmar equals or betters my genuine one. These are individual samples and no (over)generalizations are intended.

Frank: I also suspect a hidden excellent lens. When there is a Canon 50/1.2 out there, a 2.8 lens will be viewed as inferior, when in fact it could be a great lens, even though a little slow. It used to be that "fast" was the thing to have. Consider the Canon 50/0.95 lens. It put the 50/1.2 in the shadows. I rarely use my 50/1.2 as I don't need such max aperture often, and I prefer f8.0 most of the time for general photography. The 50/2.8 used to be the standard normal lens supplied with Canon cameras until it was replaced by the 1.4 and 1.2 lenses.

Hello:

Raid, which version of the f2.8? The A36 B&W "zebra" version I have is on the 111b of my atava-look left.

Frank: Mine has serial number 36448 and has two colors (black and silver) so this may be what you call "Zebra".
