I would be scared to spend that without seeing the camera. I have a slightly earlier Canon just like that one and both curtains need replacement. I would expect it to need service before putting it to use. Look at the sellers other items to get an idea of his pricing.

sounds like the kit in the minimum would need a pretty good cla, possibly some shutter work. the lens needs a cleaning too. i would say that $250 is not a real bad price, but not a great one considering the work it needs. in the end you will end up paying full price for the kit after the service, and depending on the condition of the shutter maybe a bit too much.

I agree w/ Rover. By the time you add in the cost of a CLA (on the camera body at least, and possibly the lens too), the price gets close to doubling. Better to search for a IVSB2 w/ the larger vf window.
