Canon RF Lens Deal Of The Week!

This thread must be closed. Now!
I have a bad GAS situation anyways, so seeing such deals could mean problems.

I think my Canon GAS will almost be gone (diispated?) once I get the P returned. There is one more item: the 19mm lens with finder. OK, ok, I'll take any original black Canon rangefinder camera, too.

Oh, one of these? I think that the finder in the picture is for the FD mount version, but it still works well, and is almost as bright as the recent CV finders. Still working on the black body, though...

What makes it such a great deal? The price guide says $375-475?? Maybe the hood, caps, etc?

Complete as it was, it was a GOOD DEAL......f1.5 85mm is a uncommon lens with very good performance - and with those price quides they are always $150 off of what the REAL prices on the internet and what things are selling for

I think in a private sale if I could find one of these for $375 with case/caps/hood I`d jump on it 🙂

Even this lens requires a well adjusted rangefinder and careful focussing at the large opening.

I haven`t used one yet, though alot of the old school shooters tell me it`s the
"Japanese Summarex" and very flattering for the gals to have their photo taken with......very nice portraiture lens - I think it would really rock well on a Canon 7s!

The whole f1.5 series of lenses by Canon are fine lenses, starting with the 35mm and 50mm, this one for me would just complete the set 😉

The Canon 7s would be ideal with the 85/f1.5 lens.
it would balance well and its rangefinder I would trust with a lens like that.

Yes, that's the one. I imagine it will be great on my P or my L1 or my Vt or...well, one day. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, at first I didn`t have too much love for the 7s, untill I put the Nikkor f2.0 85mm on it and it was "true love" I think the 7s is worth it alone for a 85 and 100mm base camera, and with the other FL`s of 35 and 50, it`s a really do-it-all type of camera, I can see why people call it the "M Leica" of the Canon`s, it`s just a little more bulky than a Leica M - but reminds me of the robustness of the Canon F-1 Mech ~ A camera you can nearly run over with a tank and it still keeps on going

Canon 7s `s are a real treat for someone who wants all the FrameLines there at a moments notice 😀 (I almost want a second one now....that`s why I`m looking for a 7sz)

Tom

PS: I saw a mint f1.5 35mm Canon lens on a P body this afternoon and I`m still drooling 😉 ~ The owner said "just showie ~ no sellie" hahahahaa!

I`ve been looking at this, it`s about $700/$800 too high, if it was a 7sz then I`d maybe be crazy enough to consider it, but my TOY COLLECTION has to sell first, I`m not selling any Leica gear to by a f0.95 combo 😉

Tom

When the new Nocti comes out with the f0.95 aperture at the end of the year, prices may not be the same again.

I have my sources.
So do I. Mine is a random guy on the Internet.

In spite of the considerable secrecy with which he is surrounding his source, the fact that he says he has one gives his statement credibility. Trust is transferable, as we all know. And anyway it's better for your credibility to say that you have a source than to say that you don't have a source.

That 7s/0.95 combo sounds high on the BIN, but look again. The brightline 50mm finder is very valuable with that lens, and is quite a scarce item. To top that, the scarcer genuine lens shade is also included. I've seen those sell for over $250, alone.

IF the camera is in excellent shape, both mechanically and cosmetically, and the rest of the package also shapes up, it may be a fair deal. Not a bargain, certainly, but a fair price for a difficult to duplicate package. For someone with the money and the inclination, it makes for one-stop-shopping of a tough group to assemble.

I'm fortunate enough to own all but the finder. I make do nicely, with the also excellent Leica 50mm. And I also am fortunate enough to own 2 of the 7s, and the 7sz to boot!! Not bragging, as I paid solid prices for most of the gear, but it is fun to use. The 7s shooter is in my bag with the M3, and there is really little difference in quality between them. The finder on the M3 is better, but the full upen back of the 7s pretty much offsets that advantage in regular shooting. Either would make the average shooter happy, IMHO.

Canon prices will drop! That`s all that matters....

if Leitz brings out a f0.95 Nocti more power to them I`m sure that will be a $8,000+ toy for the capable and the willing
*how many "wartime" IIIC`s could I buy for that amount???? LOL!!!! 😉 *

Tom

PS: I just saw a f0.95 yesterday that was traded for a $400 digital camera, so there`s STILL deals out there privately, that`s the best way to obtain a f0.95 now, not over the internet
