Rumor has it that an update of Canons s100 is around the corner, and is to be announced this week at Photokina. I love Canon for coming out with the s90 back in '09, it was really a refreshing change and I've taken it on so many journeys.
Now, however, the competition in compacts seems a bit stiffer. I've been keeping a close eye on the rx100 thread and that camera has really piqued my interest. Canon really needs to come out with a comparable product otherwise I, a dyed in the wool Canon compact digicam user for a decade now, may want to switch sides.

Ok, so it's an s110.
And it has wifi, touch screen interface, a more light gathering sensor, and they got rid of the grip.
Thats... about... it... :-\
Oh, and it comes in white.

I'm sure it's an OK camera, but it's just seems like a disappointing offering now.

Yeah, it's hard to buy a traditionally small sensor P&S now that P&S cams with largers sensors are available.

My s90 is still going, and my wife will be using it this week in England. It's been a great camera, and I was so excited by its original release. But that was 3 years ago, and the lack of innovation from Canon in their point and shoots seems surprising. The s110 is more competitively priced compared to the rx100... but that's the only thing it's going going for it.
True about the price...and the fact that it is a mainstream camera that is sold everywhere.
