Yikes! You may be right abt new curtains! When I discovered the "pinhole" in one of the shutter curtains on my IIIc, it did not appear as a hole so much as a tiny piece of fabric that had worn away so that it was no longer light-tight.
 
I think you can forget about patching that. New curtains are definitely in order.

With that many pinholes, you should see some of them, even though they are really tiny. ever seen the kind of hole a sparkplug makes in a piece of paper? About that size. Maybe a magnifier or a pocket microscope would be in order too?

Eddy has replaced for me the shutter curtains of the Leica IIIf and also the curtain for the Canon IVsb.
