Hi everyone.
I'm in possession of what appears to be a Canon SII (S2?) with a couple lenses. Top of camera reads: "Canon Camera Company Ltd. No. 18896".
I'm not finding anything designating it as being manufactured in Occupied Japan. Beautiful condition. It's been in the family since new and possibly bought overseas by a member of the US military (Navy).
Will also be looking for appraisal info and a reputable camera tech (for a CLA, appraisal, general advice) in southern MD or the Washington D.C. area.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

After looking at the Dechert book, it looks like not all S-II's had the "made in occupied japan" engraving. Basically, early production S-II cameras didn't have this engraving, but latter production cameras did.

Take a look at the Canon museum for more info:

There are a number of reputable repair services out there. I'm sure somebody else can offer some suggestions.
