Ambitious, but rubbish
Does anyone know if the Speedlite 200E (made for EOS cameras) will work with my old A1? I realize it will probably work, but will any of the TTL functions work, or will it be a regular old flash?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It is my understanding, from a talk with Canon tech support a number of years ago as TL and AF were coming on line, that the pinouts/pin postions on the flash and camera are the same for both the AF and manual focus (MF) flashes.
In other words, the shutter speed set pin is the same on the MF flashes as the AF versions, and the TTL signal pin is also.
In short, yes, they SHOULD work.

Got a response from Canon already:
"I am sorry to say that the 200E is not compatible with your A1. You can
use the Speedlite 199A and 155A with your camera. You may be able to
locate used flashes online."
Oh well. Thanks anyway!
