No guess what they're up to, but "Digitize my life"? Canon's a bit late on that one... the Federal Government beat them to it.
Wait a minute..."9-29-09"? Hey... add up the digits... its 29! Oooooo... significance here? Numerologists, what say ye? ....
oh nevermind.

Canon makes a lot of stuff. Could be a new laser printer or an endoscope.
Hot damn! I was hoping for a new endoscope!

I actually think it's quite likely...eventually anyway.
No idea what's under the red cloth at the link, but it seems to me that the mirrorless "slr" segment is going to be impossible to ignore.
I believe under the cloth is Micro-EOS mount camera, with an adaptor to fit current EOS lenses (among few other ones also

They've developed technology that allows them to charge $7001 for a camera.
Involves micro-debt.

I'll take a Canon 8 for my guess. Full frame LTM camera based on the Canon 7sZ...
They were going to include an accessory shoe but decided to put the slot for the SD card there instead ...

I dunno know about you guys, but I can't tell if the box in that photo is 3 inches or 3 feet wide.
If Canon is hyping it as something really new, I'd guess it's something they do not currently market.
But, then again, it might just be a new full-frame DSLR that comes with its own motorized cart.

I'll bet it's a camera that keeps you or morphs you into a 29 year old, so long as you take at least one picture with it per day. Oh, and makes you immortal. What else besides that could be the most important product from the company? Given the hype it definitely is NOT a ff rangefinder. My "serious" guess would be a slr quality camera in the form of a p&s, except they would never cut off their own superior market share in the slr market. Guess that means I'm at a total loss....

That is just fundamentally wrong.
Why, thank you.

I second to that. What about a digital dishwasher with separate profiles for different dishes and a large OLED display

They're going to face stiff competition. LG has a combination model that has a built in camera, touchscreen HD LCD, wifi, bluetooth, it does Dolby and has 7.1 surround sound, a walk-in closet, and it makes ice.
Two questions:
1) Chrome or B&W?
2) Red or Black dot?

Probably more features on the same unexciting; even if it is a new DSLR. Frankly, I think the Leica S2 is something to talk about, but I guess nobody wants to.

I was going to say something inappropriate (not sexual in nature).
OK, my ridiculous guess is that it's a new dSLR with GPS, MP3 player, TiVO, cell phone with a full keyboard and a $35 kit lens. It will bring photography to a whole new level -- a whole new low level.

FD mount would be great, but it's too big for an endoscope - more likely to be 4/3 or M-mount...

Here's an interesting thought...
Zeiss has it's fingers into Nikon now... and since Leica has dumped the R series they've got no hold on the SLR market. What about a new Canon/Leica team up that would see a line of EOS mount Sumicrons and Sumiluxes![]()
It could also go the other way and Leicas get some EOS mount non L lenses.

A new 1D Mark III should be due about now. Marketing hyperbole seems to be a normal part of pre-launch.
