Hi!

I'm new in this forum - I found it via Google as I searched for some info's on a camera I bought on a fleemarket last weekend....

And sure - I need more info's on that camera...🙂 🙂

Thanks in advance for your support!

This is the perfectly working beauty:

What I already found via Google is that a black painted Canon RF has a much higher value than a Chrome.

But I also found this ebay offer of an black painted VT de Luxe here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...e-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1#ht_1289wt_1166

Is this a realistic price or a dream price? The seller gokevincameras seems specialized in RF cameras...

Mine is in much better condition - see the photos.

Cheers!

Oohh!! Nice! I've always wanted a black VT De Luxe. And also black P, and black 7 and black L1!

Great find at the fleemarket! Just keep it and use it, I'm sure you'll enjoy this camera.

Cheers,

That camera is extraordinarily rare in black...Kevin won't get his price I bet, but if you put it in eBay with no reserve, after having it serviced, it would sell at a very nice price.

What a find, though! You might shoot a few rolls with it to see if you like it. Then, if you get addicted, you can buy yourself a pristine Canon P and Canon 50mm f/1.2 with the money from selling it, and still pocket a couple thousand dollars.

It looks authentic to me too and is quite a rare find! However, they are not bringing the prices they used to before the world economy went South. Hold on to it and don't use it till prices come back or use and enjoy it. It's a fine user too.

Thanks a lot for all the informations!

Can the more knowledgeable here explain the criteria for it being authentic?

I don't believe it has been repainted - only a fool would do this job before selling it at the price I paid....🙂🙂🙂🙂

Thanks again!

Is this the camera the black rimmed 50/1.2 was sold with? I have a lens like that but do not know what camera it was supposed to come with..?

Sorry for the purplish glow, filterless M8 shot...

Nice! The all black Canon 50mm f/1.2 LTM is not a common sight too. I've seen it with Black VT De Luxe, Black VI-T and Black 7. Not too sure about black P and black L1 though.

Cheers,

That is a very nice looking camera. As best as one can tell from photos, it looks authentic. It also is in unusually good shape.

Somewhere else on this forum I posted some pages from a Canon 1957-58 sales catalogue and just checking them again I notice that the following black cameras were sold with optional BLACK lenses.
  1. L1 = 50mm f/1.2 or 35mm f/1.8
  2. VTD = 50mm f/1.2 or 35mm f/1.8
  3. VI-L = 50mm f/1.2, 50mm f/1.8 or 35mm f/1.8
  4. VI-T = 50mm f/1.2, 50mm f/1.8 or 35mm f/1.8
The black 50mm f/1.8 was issued after the 1957 but only appeared in the T5 & T6 variations. Peter

Corp. I hate to burst your bubble, but judging from your photos (without seeing the camera in person), your camera looks like a repaint. A good one. The strap lugs and even the the strap rings are painted. The lugs according to what I know, were never painted, or the strap rings. If the camera works fine, keep it. It's beautiful, but not worth the price that Kevin is selling his for.

Afraid Canon did black paint the strap lugs as well as the D rings but there are pointers that do give away a re-paint job...subtle but they are missed when a camera body is re-painted. Hopefull my datalist confirms those camera bodies that are genuine. Peter
