Hi,
i've just acquired the Canon 35mm accessory viewfinder to match with my Canon 35mm f2.8 LTM Lens.
However, the pin that rises to adjust the viewfinder seems to have no effect on the movement of the viewfinder.
The pin that rises from the VT body has a flat head, should this be domed?
I'm wondering if in a past life someone's put a non-parallax viewfinder on the camera and damaged the rising pin?

If so is there anyway to remedy this?

thanks, gordon

I don't have my moving-pin-for-viewfinder-parallax Canon RF cameras available at the moment, but I can confirm that if you mount a "regular" flat-base viewfinder (even a Canon one) on a camera with the moving-pin system and start to focus, the camera will drive the pin up as far as it will go and if you continue to focus closer you will actually cause the moving-pin system to be bent -- ask me how I know. The system inside the camera can be repaired, but you'll be out of pocket. The Canon RF cameras with moving-pin should only be used with the black Canon RF viewfinders designed to be used on those cameras -- and I recall that not all Canon viewfinders that are black are moving-pin design.

Thank you, I thought so, the viewfinder I have is a black one with the appropriate pin, and pivots. Looks like a previous owner may have used one of those flat-based viewfinders. The pin in camera still rises, just not enough it may just be that the pin head has been flattened enough to cause a problem, as well as any internal bending that has occurred..
