I just bought a grip for the VT trigger winder group of cameras from KEH, of course they don't provide images of the actual item.

How do I know I'm getting the correct grip for the VT/VIT I have here already and not the grip for the earlier Rapid Winders?

Looks like the earlier models had two locating pins on the top whereas the VT style had a small plate that braces against the bottom plate of the camera.

Is it that simple?

Looks like it. I found an old Canon accessories brochure for the Vt and the handgrip looks to have an attachment screw (tripod socket) and a bracket and that's all.

Yes.

The grip supplied with my VT was exactly that, plus the plate has the word "Canon" on it and has a leather wrist strap attached. When attached to the bottom plate, there is a little movement, but there is padding behind the grip's plate to ensure this is limited and that there is no cosmetic damage to the camera.

Hope this helps.
