Canon W-50 hood?

I recently bought a mint condition W-50 for the 35/1.5 lens. However, no matter how I mount the hood, it is always loose on the lens. I have tried with and without filter but the hood is always loose (yes, i tightened the screw). Anyone has ever encountered this before?

I see the same thing with my 35/1.5 and lenshood. It is a mis-match. I have two such lens hoods and none fits well.

I have the Canon Slimline 43mm Skylight on my Canon 35mm F1.5, and -then- the Canon W-50 Lenshood. With the thickness of the knurled Canon filter added, the hood fastens down very tightly, and stays put. No problems at all.

I don't have the slim canon filter but I do have an original canon uv filter on it, still the hood is loose.

If it is loose get some sticky one sided felt. The felt is removable without damaging lens or hood.

Mine looks new but lens is pretty well used. I don't see any damage on the filter ring or anything.

Right mine also fits tightly with or without a filter. The felt tape sounds like it will work.

I have a couple of the W-50 hoods that fit just fine on the Canon 35/1.5, no tape needed.

Red Robin, You can unscrew the front part of the 35/50 Canon Hood, and a Kodak Series VI Wratten filter fits tightly inside, with no vignetting. Or you can use Canon Series VI filters, I have some of each.
