Hi, trying to find out difference between Canon W-60 and W-60B lens hoods. Can't see any from photos.

W-60-B is for the FL28/3.5, W-60-A is for the FL35/2.5. The A is 24.5mm deep from hood front to bottom of threaded portion. I don't have a B to measure, but it's likely a little shallower. I need to get one since I have the 28 and not the 35.

I have both the FL 28 3.5 and FL 35 2.5.
I tried the S hood on the 35 and it vignetted.
So, you do have to use the correctly designated hood.
Both hoods seem to be the same diameter. I use an 80mm push on Kalt hood to cap both hoods. The hood for the 28mm lens is much shorter.

I'm using this for my Yashica Lynx 14E and it's pretty clear from photos that the W-60 is a decent match for the Yashica lens hood for that camera which are very hard to get. Now the seller tells me his W60B is in fact a 67 mm; I thought for sure the 60 referred to the diameter of the metal ring part of the hood that goes over the camera lens. Thanks.

What dimension is he measuring?
The W60 designation means that the maximum opening of the hood internal diameter is 60mm. The hood locks down by a thumbscrew that pushes on the inner ring clutch of the hood.

Thanks yes he was confused; the outer part of the lens hood is 67mm, that makes sense, but what slips over the lens is 60mm which is what I need. The Lynx 14e has a 45mm 1.4 lens, so the W-60B should work, can't see any difference between that and the plain W-60. For this camera the lens hood can't be too big or it interferes with the light meter reading.

I use a 58mm standard straight hood on mine. It's 24mm deep, and has a 62mm opening. Never had a bit of trouble with vignetting. Bought it cheap on ebay, and it came with a cap, so I don't have to remove the hood to cap the lens, unless I'm putting on the top half of the ERC. The W-60 is 80mm wide, and does interfere a bit with the rangefinder window (just checked). An S-60 (the rubber model), though it looks really cool on the 14E, completely blocks the rangefinder window, and would through off the meter too. In general, SLR hoods are not designed to work properly on fixed lens rangefinder cameras.
