Today I bought a Canonet 19 bottom winder RF(# 1479XXX), from which the Copal shutter won't respond. So to have a look inside I want to open the camera; top removal is not a problem, the bottom is...I wonder if there's somebody who can tell me how to remove the tripoid adapter on the bottom which prevents this bottom-plate disassy...

Are you sure that the shutter is the problem?

I have a couple of these cameras. Both work just fine in the manual mode, but need sufficient light in the auto (A) mode. One of my cameras only works in the manual mode (I assume due to an old meter sensor) and I could see how someone would think that there is something wrong with the shutter.

Try this:

On the lens barrel, the 1st ring closest to the body of the camera is the focusing ring. The 2nd ring list aperture settings. Set the second ring to any setting other than AUTO (in red) and see if the shutter fires.

Hopefully it does. Good luck.

Hi Rich, thanks for your reply, but no it is not a AUTO-problem but a sticky shutter problem indeed. I disassembled the barrel and took the barrel mounting plate out of the front of the camera (removing the camera-clothing left & right from barrel)
By using lighter fluid and thinner I could make them come loose, but it took me a lot of time to do so. Thanks to the help of Harryrag on the kyphoto site it's working again....
