A few months ago I posted re: Canonet 28. Using 200 film, the pictures are sharp in the middle but out of focus on the outer edges. I took the camera to London with using 400 film [along with several others] and the pictures were much much better, but with a few exceptions. It appears that as long as the F stops are high, F11 and above, the pictures are OK, but if shooting in the shade the outer edges get distorted, primarily because the F stops drop.
I know there are some 28 users out there - is this common with the 28s? I'm thinking of getting another one because I like them and they're quite compact, but also bcause I want to see if this is true with all of them. Thanks for any input you can share!

I remember hearing about this a few months ago. Im not sure how common but I have a canonet that appears to have the same symptoms. When shooting wide open the corners are sharp but the edges are blurry, mainly in dim low lighting. In bright lights the edges comes out sharp.
I have 3 canonet 28's and only 1 of them has this issue. My guess is a flipped lens element but who knows. Could be something in the shutter possibly.
Since then Ive been using the QL17 G-III but I still carry around the 28 sometimes when I want to have those fuzzy edge effects.

I have never had this issue but haven't used my 28 extensively as i don't particularly like it.
