Hi Everyone!

To my horror, my beloved Canonet QL17 GIII has fungus in the rear lens element! I tried to remove the rear element, but the barrels seems to be too tight. Otherwise, my canonet is perfect electronically and mechanically.

Can anybody suggest a repair facility in the US? I would have preferred Greyhoundman, but he seems not to be taking any repair jobs currently (?)

I've heard good things about Essex... but you must be prepared to pay more than the camera's worth for its repair. Also, don't count on them necessarily repairing it. Some people may turn down these jobs...

Good luck!

Aye! I was delighted when I got a FREE QL17 GIII. I was really disappointed when I paid the $93 bill for a rehab and CLA.

If there is fungus, the lens may be etched and rendered less than optimal. While there are many good suggestions on where to get the mechanics of a camera fixed, these good folk are not going to be able to save the lens, if indeed it has been ruined. I would suggest finding a better shape camera, lens not damaged, and then doing the CLA. Or buy a non working, parts only sample and merge the two.
