Canonet Giii QL17 - Battery / Meter

Hi,
I'm new here and I feel at home when browsing around this forum. I'm purchasing my first rangefinder tomorrow - the GIII QL17 (very excited)

The seller has informed me that the light meter works without a battery while set to Manual mode. Is this true? I haven't been able to find any info that suggests that is correct. I do intend to buy a battery though. Could someone please suggest which model / brand?

No. You need a battery and it has to be set to A mode to work.

Okay so the regardless of a battery or not the Meter will Not work in manual mode. Correct?

Correct. The camera will still work but battery or no battery the meter only works in A mode.

I use a Kanto/ CRIS MR-9 battery adapter and a SR43/ V386 battery with success.
