Hello,
My name is Nicolás, from Argentina. Recently I've acquired my lovely Black Canonet. Things to do first at all, replace the seals, fortunately came with the replacements.

Also the viewfinder was a little foggy, so I told myself 'You are ripping it... go further'.

I hope this pics could be helpful for those who own a Canonet.

I've used 'ear cotton', alcohol -isopropyl recommended-, and the always hepful lenspen specially to remove the dust.

Hi Nicolas,

Welcome to RFF. I have loved your rich step by step explanation. You are mostly invited to repeate it with other cameras in the future.

Cheers,
Ruben

Hi Nicholas,

Welcome and thanks for the great instructions. I have 2 chrome and black QL17s... not nearly as pretty as your all black version. I hope you enjoy shooting with your QL17 as much as I enjoy mine. Its a great camera.

That's one sweet black Canonet! One of these days I'll have to change the light seals on my GIII too, but it's not a problem yet. My viewfinder, on the other hand, sure did need cleaning. After about a year and a half I finally got the courage to take off the top and clean it, and boy what a difference! I wish I had done it much sooner.

Ray
