Anyone use an Arca Swiss / RRS / Kirk quick release on their GIII? I have the release on my ballhead and hate to have to remove the ballhead each time I want to use the GIII on a tripod. As I check catalogs, etc. none are made specifically for the GIII and all others seem way to big.

They have a generic release for P&S cams that should do fine, although I'd also try out the ones for the old nikon MF bodies F3, the FEs and FMs, if an anti twist lip is important to you.

I have all 3. QL17, RRS head & RRS plates. I just got the head & plates last week so I haven't put a plate on the QL17 yet. I don't see why it would be a problem. Some of the RRS plates are quite small.

Honestly, for the price of a RRS plate you could buy a nice small tripod and head for the QL17. In my case, I think that putting a QL17 on a Gitzo GT tripod and RRS head is overkill.

Well, then - check out this Holga that I modified to a super wideangle pinhole. It's on a homemade wooden arca compatible plate on my Gitzo which I normally use with my 4x5. Fun! 🙂
