Just snagged a Canonet Q17 GIII off ebay recently and I'm loving it! I'm really impressed with the B&W and Color test rolls I ran thru her last week. I'm going street shooting with her next week.

Any advice? Especially in the area of lens settings for street shooting. I'm thinking of setting to Aperture Priority and setting the speed to 125. If sunny out, I should get an aperture of 16 I think.

Any thoughts/advice?

What you describe is shutter priority. You set the shutter speed, and the camera sets the aperture.

But yes, if you're using ASA100 film, you should get roughly f/16 on a sunny day -- in the sunlight.

If you set the aperture to A (AUTO) and adjust the shutter you see the meter indicating a different aperture. You are setting the shutter speed manually (so the shutter speed is fixed by you - hence it is the priority - thus the name Shutter Priority) and the camera is adjusting the aperture to suit.

OK, I admit I must be slightly retarded (no offense to the mental disabled). I was thinking the A was strictly Aperture Priority, and not Auto meaning one can select using the speed. Oh well, I get by 😉 anyway.

Thanks for straightening me out.
