Hi all,

I have above camera that needs a CLA. Shutter and aperture are stuck and I don't really dare fixing it myself.

I had contacted Mark Hama and got a repair estimate, but now all my messages bounce and I haven't been able yet to reach him by phone.

Where else could I get a good CLA for this? Any suggestions, preferably in Europe somewhere? I have no issues in sending it to the US, though.

Thanks for your ideas.

Cheers from ice cold Switzerland.

Hi Rob,
I got mine serviced by the "Rolleiflex-man" Jürgen Kuschnik (he is a well known professional repairman, not only in Germany) I had to pay 60 €uros plus shipping.

Google and you'll find his website - he will give you a quick reply when you'll get in touch with him by mail.

Good success - Frank

Jürgen has already contacted me, has offered me a CLA for 98 Euros plus shipping. Guess this is what I will have to pay for a good CLA, right?

Uhm, I'm not sure if I found the right website for Brian Sweeney. Is this one correct: Bryan Sweeney? I seem to remember that he is no longer active on RFF so I didn't even dare to contact him.

Thanks for your help and warm regards from ice cold Switzerland 🙂

I have a GIII with a stuck shutter and after reading through these forums and other sites to try to repair it myself, I'm coming to realize that I simply don't have the skill, and this camera's too nice to possibly ruin as a first-timer.

I'm looking for someone in the U.S--I can't seem to find Brian Sweeney, if he's in the U.S. or elsewhere.

Looking for some tips on how to get this done.

When I asked Mr. Gandy about servicing a Canonet, this was his reply:

"Hi,

we no longer service fixed lens RF's

google for Essex Camera Repair

Thanks
Stephen"

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Mark Hama is notoriously...difficult...to work with. I actually tried to arrange a repair with him on another camera but I simply couldn't get a hold of him--there's even a 3-page long thread on this forum about his service, so I probably won't even try to contact him. I'll keep looking!

I have a QL17 III and the shutter lags a bit but isn't stuck, and I have a QL19 whose shutter and aperture blades have both completely seized. A quick search on eBay suggests that it would be cheaper simply to replace them...

I had very good experiences with Mark Hama in the last 18 months on four different cameras. I understand he was ill for a period before this and was hard to contact during that period. I encourage you to give him a try now.
