Hi, I have owned a couple of canon RF camera's in the past, a G3 QL 1.7 and an original 1.9, however both camera's shutters failed. I am now looking to buy a another one as I really did enjoy using them both. However I see that many of them for sale, on Ebay etc, have shutters that don't work. So I'm wondering if this a known issue with these camera's or just an age thing ? and are they repairable without great expense ?

Thanks in advance if anyone has any advice as to what to lookout for buying one it would be much appreciated.

Yep, it is a known issue about canonet shutters. They simply stick. Probably because of oil migrating from focussing helical to the shutter and aperture blades. They must be completely free of oil and grease to work properly. The best way to get a good working canonet is to repair yours. You'd need something like a lens spanner to remove front and rear lens groups and then flush the blades with lighter fluid, naphta or some other kind of liquid that dissolves greas and evaporates... there is a good 'how to' about this on kyphoto.com (CLICK)
