CanoScan 8800F + VueScan + Macbook Pro

Hi guys, I just bought my first ever film scanner as it seems to me a more cost effective option. I'm totally new at this, so I was hoping you guys could give me some advice.

The million dollar question would be how do I get sharp and accurate scans of high resolution out of this scanner?

haha...I saw your username and had to post just because of that.

I still haven't broken down and bought a scanner, but I've seen others on here recommend this one guy's aftermarket film holders before. You might could search for film holder on here to find it or it seems like the site name was betterscanning or something similar. I believe the guy who makes them at least used to post on here too.
